Back story of the piece of wood:
This wood came from a Walnut tree that fell in The Great Derecho Storm of 2020 that hit Cedar Rapids, IA. This was the costliest thunderstorm in US History totaling over $12 billion dollars in damage. Most of the damage occurring in the state of Iowa. This storm also destroyed 70% of the tree canopy of Cedar Rapids, leaving the landscape of the city completely changed.
For Spring Rund Design we will always remember this storm and as we witnessed it firsthand. Our hope now is that we can turn the destruction of all those trees into something beautiful and useful that will be passed down for generations.
